SAN DIEGO (CNS) - A motorist was killed and a second was injured in a crash at a Bay Terraces-area intersection Thursday morning.

A northbound red 2004 Chevrolet Silverado pickup and an eastbound black 2002 Volkswagen Passat collided when the car's driver turned into the truck's path at the intersection of Brandywood and South Woodman shortly before 7 a.m., according to San Diego police and fire officials.

The 65-year-old woman behind the wheel of the Volkswagen became trapped and was extricated by firefighters, but she died at the scene, authorities
said. Her name has not been released.

The 46-year-old driver of the pickup truck was taken to a hospital with minor injuries, San Diego police Officer Frank Cali said.

Woodman Street was closed between Bullock and Plaza roads. San Diego police urged motorists to avoid the area while officers investigated.
