OCEANSIDE (CNS) - A domestic dispute turned bloody in Oceanside, as a woman collapsed with stab wounds outside her apartment, and her daughter was chased and slashed as she ran for help, police said Sunday.

Jesse Barela, Jr., 28, was arrested for allegedly stabbing his wife and stepdaughter multiple times, Oceanside police said.

According to their report, at about 10:05 p.m. Saturday, officers were called to the Presidio Apartments in the 4400 block of Mission Avenue. They found Barela had apparently stabbed his 40-year-old wife and 14-year-old stepdaughter multiple times, Lt. Leonard Cosby said.

Barela's wife had run out of the apartment and collapsed outside. Her daughter was chased by the suspect as she ran her grandparent's apartment, which is in the same complex.

Barela stabbed the girl, but was restrained by neighbors and the grandparents until police arrived and arrested him, according to Cosby.

Barela's wife and stepdaughter were both transferred to the hospital and are expected to survive. their names were not released.

Barela was booked into the Vista Detention Facility on suspicion of attempted murder, Cosby said.

Detectives are still investigating the incident.
