Brother and sister killed identified

SAN DIEGO (CNS) - Authorities released the names Tuesday of a brother and sister who were gunned down behind a Mountain View-area home last weekend, allegedly by an acquaintance who's been a fugitive since the double slaying.

Patrol officers responding to reports of gunfire found Arline Iribe, 20, and her 22-year-old sibling, Alex Velarde, mortally wounded on a rear driveway in the 1100 block of South 43rd Street shortly after 8 p.m. Sunday. They died at the scene from gunshot wounds to their upper bodies, San Diego police Lt. Paul Rorrison said.

Witnesses alleged the shooting occurred during an argument the victims had gotten into with 39-year-old Felipe Vega of San Diego, who fled afterward. The nature of the dispute was unclear.

Police advised anyone spotting Vega to consider him armed and dangerous and to call 911 immediately.
