Emotional vigil for brother and sister gunned down

On Saturday, 22-year-old Alexis Velarde and 20-year-old Arline Iribe were killed, and on Wednesday night, loved ones pushed for justice as they reflected on the young lives lost.

SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) - The search continues for a man suspected of gunning down siblings in Southcrest.

Police said they are still searching for 39-year-old Felipe Vega, the prime suspect in the murders. Police consider Vega armed and dangerous.

On Saturday, 22-year-old Alexis Velarde and 20-year-old Arline Iribe were gunned down Sunday, and on Wednesday night, loved ones pushed for justice as they reflected on the young lives lost.

During a vigil Wednesday night, family members say Velarde got a frantic call from his sister saying Vega, who was her roommate, was threatening her.

"I didn't think much of it. He said, I'll be back. I just didn't think much of it," said Edwin Astorga.

Family and friends said they will continue to hold prayer vigils for Alex and Aline every night this week at the site where they were gunned down.

A special on-line fund has been set up to help the siblings' parents with their children's funeral expenses.

Anyone with possible information on this case, including Felipe Vega's whereabouts is asked to call San Diego CrimeStoppers at 888-580-8477.
