SAN DIEGO (CNS) - A 22-year-old man suspected of hacking a man to death with a machete at a Rolando Park-area home last week has been arrested in Phoenix, San Diego police said Friday.

Vincent Garza Salas was taken into custody by U.S. Marshals around 3:30 p.m. Thursday, and is expected to be brought back to San Diego to face charges in connection with the death of 43-year-old Vicente Carrera, according to San Diego police Lt. Paul Rorrison. A no-bail warrant was issued for Salas' arrest on Tuesday.

Carrera's body was found on an enclosed back patio of a residence in the 6800 block of Waite Drive near Aragon the morning of Nov. 6 with major upper body trauma, according to the lieutenant. Police believed the victim was killed around 10 p.m. the night before with a machete, which has been recovered.
