Casa De Oro residents fight blight in neighborhood

Posted: Updated:

SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) - Concerned residents of Casa De Oro are coming together to fight for what they see as a blight to their neighborhood.

Residents say too many liquor stores and smoke shops are leading to trash, graffiti and loitering.

Families worry liquor stores are sending the wrong message to kids, and they believe that with looser regulations, alcohol sales will take over.

County Supervisor Dianne Jacobs sent a statement which in part says she "appreciates the community for wanting to improve Casa De Oro and is working with businesses, residents, code enforcement and deputies."

An information meeting is set for December 17th, at the Casa De Oro Library at 6 p.m.

In the video report above, CBS News 8's Abbie Alford has the details.
