Squatters may have sparked early morning fire

Posted: Updated:

SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) - Residents of a Mira Mesa apartment complex were evacuated early Sunday morning after a fire broke out in a nearby unit.

The fire happened in a first floor apartment on Capricorn Way east of Camino Ruiz just after 2 p.m. It took San Diego fire crews less than 20 minutes to knock the fire down in the vacant unit.

Investigators say squatters may have been using the apartment when it caught fire. No one was injured.
