First phase of recycled water project in Encinitas

Posted: Updated:

SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) - Encinitas celebrated the completion of the first phase of a recycled water project with a valve-turning ceremony Monday.

Crews have converted one of the city's one-million-gallon water tanks from potable to recycled water. The water will be used by parks, schools and HOA's in the Village Park Area. It's the first step in a seven-mile pipeline project to connect the Olivenhain and San Elijo water districts.

An effort is also underway to build recycled water systems for ten north county water agencies.
