First look at the 2016 Join the Team Calendar

Posted: Updated:

SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) - For the ninth straight year, Chargers players and Adopt 8 kids have teamed up for a special adoption awareness calendar.

The 2016 Join the Team Calendar is hot off the presses and made its debut at Sunday’s Chargers-Chiefs game. It was handed out to fans for free.

The partnership between the Chargers, San Diego County Adoptions and Adopt 8 is a way to remind people throughout the year about the need for adoptive families.

CBS News 8 would like to thank the 13 Chargers players who volunteered their time during the off-season this past summer to this important effort and this year several players shared how adoption has touched their own families.

Photojournalist Ann Marie Spaulding and Marcella Lee have that story and a first look at the calendar in the above video.

On Adopt 8, we feature children who are considered "difficult to place" because they are older, or have special needs. This past year, wishes came true for several children featured on Adopt 8 who have been matched with a forever family, but many are still waiting to find a permanent home.
