SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) - Disney’s Beauty and the Beast, the award winning Broadway musical, has returned to the San Diego Civic Theater.

CBS News 8's Jeff Zevely was able to speak with one of the new cast members who was born and raised in San Diego.

Studying in his dressing room before taking the stage, the young acting career of Kadence Edwards is starting to add up.

This eight-year old from Tierra Santa plays the little teacup named Chip in Beauty and the Beast.

His parents are Karin and James Edwards.

James Royce Edwards is an actor as too, who has traveled the country starring in multiple national shows, but there's nothing like watching his son on stage.

Reviews from Kadence’s co-star Stephanie gray who plays Mrs. Potts are also sweet as tea.

Kadence shares the role of Chip with nine-year-old Deandre Horner from Atlanta.

Off stage the two youngsters have become friends.
