Utah woman and dogs rescued from icy lake

Posted: Updated:

UTAH (KSL) - A man on his way to work discovered a woman floating in a lake, after falling through thin ice in a remote area of Utah.

After Thomas Braithwaite stopped he said he heard the woman say: “I’m numb and can’t hang on any longer.”

Thomas quickly called 911 and within minutes an officer arrived at the reservoir. The officer said he had a device that would assist in pulling the woman to safety, who fell through the ice while trying to rescue her dogs.

Once the woman and her dogs were safe, the officer, who captured the recovery on his body camera, said this rescue was a miracle because on most days there aren’t people in this remote area.

Thomas said he decided to sleep in a little late Monday morning and that decision allowed him to help this woman.
