OTAY MESA (CBS 8/CNS) - A 29-year-old transient was behind bars Tuesday on suspicion of fatally stabbing his grandmother and an uncle inside a mobile home in Otay Mesa.

CBS News 8 has exclusive video of Raymond Joseph Chatterfield originally taken in for questioning in the double fatal stabbing in Otay Mesa in the Rancho Chula Vista mobile home park in the 1000 block of Beyer Way.

Chatterfield was arrested around 7:30 p.m. Monday at a Jack in the Box restaurant on 30th Street, about half-mile from the mobile home park where Donna Chatterfield, 78, and Kenneth Chatterfield, 54, were found dead 3 1/2 hours earlier, according to San Diego police Lt. Paul Rorrison.

It was not immediately clear what led police to Raymond Chatterfield and a suspected motive, if known, has yet to be made public. But the suspect had a prior allegation of elder abuse involving the female victim, according to online records.

Police officers were initially sent to the Rancho Chula Vista mobile home park, a retirement community shortly before 4 p.m. Monday when someone called 911 to report an unconscious man and woman inside a residence, Rorrison said.

The victims had both sustained multiple stab wounds and were found on the floor. Rorrison said paramedics attempted to revive them, but they died at the scene.

James Avitia lives across the street from where the stabbings took place, and he said he has known Chatterfield since he was 12-years-old.

"I came home and saw him at the liquor store and I decided to call the cops. I knew it was him. I got a call they were stabbed and I knew it was him," said Avitia.

Neighbors told CBS News 8 Chatterfield was not allowed on the mobile home park property.

He'll face a judge on Wednesday afternoon on two murder charges.
