Scoring a touchdown with his Make-A-Wish dream

SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) - The Chargers teamed up with the Make-A-Wish Foundation to help a teenager's dream come true.

Nicholas Ayers got a chance to meet his favorite team, and even signed a one-day contract with the Bolts.

Nicholas became a Chargers fan as a kid watching LT play, and his wish was to attend a Chargers game.

Little did he know that on Friday he would actually become part of the Chargers.

A month after the NFL trade deadline, the Chargers signed a new player, 17-year-old Nicholas, making his wish come true in the form of a one-day contract.

Nicholas suffers from a liver disease, and has spent most of the last ten months in hospitals where his parents heard about the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

“I just sent the information to see if we could make something good happen out of it,” said his mother.

Nicholas was taken right to the locker room to work out with his new teammates and where he met offensive guard DJ Flucker.

He even got his own locker next to the team’s greats, and once properly suited, Nicholas and his family hit the practice field.

“I just said I wanted to go to a San Diego Chargers game. I didn't think I was going to get to do all this,” said Nicholas.

“This is just a great experience and they did a wonderful job with this. We're just happy to see him happy,” said his mother.

Philip Rivers presented Nicholas with five tickets for Sunday’s game.

Nicholas will take part in some of the pre-game festivities, then have field seats to watch the Chargers take on the Broncos.
