Joshua's birthday wish to find a forever home

Posted: Updated:

SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) - A local boy celebrating his 8th birthday has just one wish. He would like nothing more than to find a forever family.

We filmed this Adopt 8 segment on a very special day. It was Joshua’s birthday and the perfect occasion to say hello to a family out there that just may become his own.

“Hi San Diego, my name is Joshua. Today is my birthday and I'm 8 and I'm climbing up into a tree.”

Joshua then made his way down so we could chat and give him a proper birthday greeting.

“I've really seen him blossom in the last year, he has so much more self-confidence than he did a year ago, and he just has so much potential. He's such a wonderful kid,” said Debbie Stacey his Court Appointed Special Advocate.

A year ago, Joshua was a bit withdrawn when he was living in an emergency children's shelter with an uncertain future, but as soon as he was placed into a stable foster home he quickly adapted to family life nd began to thrive. Joshua's foster mom says he's now very engaging and always eager to help out.

“He enjoys cooking, house chores. He will do laundry, laughs, mop the floor, whatever you're asking him, he loves doing that, he loves being a part, he loves cooking, baking, arts and crafts. He loves everything,” continued Stacey.

And what Joshua would love more than anything else is a forever home – a home that doesn’t change.

Joshua's Court Appointed Special Advocate says he's very creative, quirky and comical.

“He makes me laugh. We have so much fun. We sit and giggle a lot together just being silly. He always has me laughing,” Stacey added.

Joshua also loves to sing.

And as Joshua fights for a stable future in a loving home, those who care about him, hope his birthday wish to find a forever family comes true.
