Busiest day of the year at Lindbergh Field Airport

SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) - Wednesday is expected to be the busiest travel day of the year at Lindbergh Field Airport, officials said.

Airport officials are expecting as many as 65,000 passengers at the airport every day through Christmas and New Year's Day.

Authorities suggest arriving one and a half hours early for domestic flights and at least two hours early for international flights.

A last minute reminder to check with your airline for any delays or cancellations before you head out the door is advised.

One family traveling to Michigan woke up, ready to go. Now, they need some coffee and they're dreaming of a white Christmas.

"Hopefully, we will have some snow for Christmas, but who knows. Hopefully, Santa brings some snow," said Jen Deyoung, Traveler.

If you're driving, AAA says a record number of southern Californians, an estimated 7 million, will hit the roads through the holidays.

California Highway Patrol said wet weather caused 324 crashes yesterday alone. That's double the amount of a regular day and another winter storm is expected Christmas Eve.

If you're flying, TSA suggests you keep your presents unwrapped or they will open them at the security checkpoint, or you can pack them in your checked luggage.
