Pedestrian hospitalized after being struck by car in Vista

Posted: Updated:

VISTA (CNS) - A 27-year-old pedestrian who sustained non-life-threatening injuries when he was struck by a car in the southbound lane of East Vista Way was recuperating in a hospital Sunday morning, a sheriff's official said.

The incident occurred at 6:34 p.m. Saturday just north of Anza Avenue, Sheriff's Deputy Ken Werner said.

"The Vista Patrol station responded to a report of a traffic collision involving a pedestrian, and when deputies arrived they found a man lying in the southbound traffic lane of east Vista Way," Werner said. "The man had been crossing the roadway without regard for vehicle traffic."

There was no identification on the victim. Werner said he was taken to Palomar Medical Center with serious, but not life-threatening, injuries.

He said the vehicle driver who struck the pedestrian remained at the scene of the collision.

"Alcohol or drugs on the part of the driver were not suspected to be a factor in the collision," Werner said.

An investigation was ongoing.
