Fire damages La Mesa home

LA MESA (CNS) - A fire broke out at a La Mesa home Monday afternoon, causing $400,000 in damage and displacing two adults and two children.

Crews from Heartland Fire & Rescue were assisted by San Diego Fire Department in putting out the non-injury blaze in the single-family home in the 9300 block of De Camp Drive. No one was inside when the fire broke out about 2 p.m.

Crews contained the flames within 10 minutes, and no surrounding structures were damaged. The fire was mainly confined to the living room, kitchen and hallway.

Investigators were trying to determine the cause of the fire that caused an estimated $300,000 in structural damage and $100,000 in losses to contents.

The American Red Cross was assisting the displaced residents.
