Police search for suspects who robbed cell phone store

Posted: Updated:

SAN DIEGO (CNS) - Surveillance video and photos were made public Thursday in an effort to identify three men who stole more than $6,500 worth of merchandise from a cell phone store in Kearny Mesa and may have committed similar crimes in the area.

The trio of suspects walked into the Spring Mobile store on Clairemont Mesa Boulevard near Convoy Street as its employee was working in the back of the store shortly before 7:30 p.m. Dec. 15 and tore numerous phones and tablets from their display cases, according to San Diego police and Crime Stoppers.

The worker heard the noise and confronted one of the suspects but was ordered to stay put as the robbers continued to ransack the business, authorities said. They ran from the store with about $6,500 worth of merchandise and escaped before officers arrived.

The same men are suspected of similar robberies in and around Kearny Mesa, according to police and Crime Stoppers. All three were described as black men with medium builds in their late teens or early 20s who were wearing hooded sweatshirts.

Anyone with information on the case was asked to call police at (858) 495-7957 or to contact Crime Stoppers' anonymous tip line at (888) 580-8477 or via email at sdcrimestoppers.org.
