Police K9 helps nab suspect who broke into home

SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) - Scary moments for two women in the middle of the night when a man tried to break into their home early Friday morning.

One of the women knew the man and had actually filed a restraining order against him.

Police say the man approached the Allied Gardens home just after midnight through the backyard, broke the back window and tried to get inside.

The women called police.

When officers arrived, the man refused to surrender and they sent a police dog to grab him.

"Officers surrounded the patio and called out to that suspect. He didn't come out initially. The officers knew he was inside, they went inside to arrest him. In doing so the suspect resisted arrest and a police dog was deployed to help take him into custody," Lt. Adam Sharki said.

He was charged with burglary and violating a court restraining order.

Both women are expected to be okay.
