Homicide detectives investigate suspicious death in Paradise Hills

SAN DIEGO (CNS) - San Diego Police homicide detectives were investigating the death of a woman, believed to be in her 50's, who was found Saturday morning on the ground having difficulty breathing in Paradise Hills, according to authorities.

Police officers and paramedics responded to a 9-1-1 call just after 6 a.m. to the front of a house in the 1600 block of Sandy Shore Street, where the woman was found unconscious, Acting Lt. Manny Del Toro said in a statement. She was taken by ambulance to a hospital where her condition worsened.

She died while being treated at the hospital several hours after her arrival. Doctors said that suspicious markings on her upper body were possibly caused by traumatic injury.

Homicide detectives responded ''in an abundance of caution'' even though it had not yet been determined if the markings contributed to her death, Del Toro said. They are awaiting the results of an autopsy by the San Diego County medical examiner's office.

While the victim's identity has been determined by investigators, they are waiting until her family can be told before releasing her name to the public.

Anyone with information about the death can call the SDPD Homicide Unit
at (619) 531-2293 or Crime Stoppers at (888) 580-8477.
