Mission Beach residents protest plans for new apartment complex

Posted: Updated:

SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) - Mission Beach residents gathered Monday afternoon to protest the proposed development of more than 60 condo units on the site of the old Mission Beach Elementary School on Mission Boulevard.

Residents say they are concerned that the new development is too large for the community and will increase problems with the traffic conditions, population, road and environmental conditions, as well as emergency responses.

There is also concern among community members that the beach community’s plan , Planned District Ordinance, has been ignored by the San Diego Planning Commission. The Mission Beach Town Council and the Mission Beach Precise Plan Board have both voted against the proposed developers plan.
