Luncheon honors women dedicated to Cystic Fibrosis cause

SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) - A special luncheon was held Thursday honoring local women dedicated to finding a cure for cystic fibrosis.

The 65 Roses Ladies Luncheon was named in honor of a four-year-old boy who couldn't pronounce cystic fibrosis back in 1964.

The disease affects the lungs and one's ability to breathe. In 1980, life expectancy for those suffering from cystic fibrosis was under 20-years-old. Now, at 37-years-old, the life expectancy has nearly doubled.
