SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) - San Diego Fire-Rescue crews worked Saturday to free a man with his arm stuck in a water pipe in Rancho Bernardo.

It happened just after 3:00 p.m. near Rancho Bernardo Road and Pomerado Road.

According to PIO Joe Amador, a water department worker said the man got his hand stuck in a pressure relief valve.

Medics have an IV hooked up to the man because he was in considerable pain.  Crews had to wait for water to be turned off from the high pressure pipe, which supplies all of 4S Ranch, San Diego County Water authorities said.

The man was transported to a local hospital.

This is a developing story. Check back for updates.
