Caltrans project will shut down SR-67 this weekend

Caltrans will be closing parts out soutbound SR-67 due to a construction project scheduled to get underway Friday night.

SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) - Caltrans will be closing parts of southbound SR-67 due to a construction project scheduled to get underway Friday night.

Southbound SR-67 will be closed from Mapleview Street to Riverford Road Friday, April 15 at 10 p.m. until 5 a.m. on Monday, April 18. Drivers should expect major delays and are urged by Caltrans officials to avoid the area.

The closure is needed for the county's Woodside Avenue Flood Control Project. The project includes the placement of a storm drain under SR-67 which will require excavation of the roadway.  The new system is expected to reduce flooding to local businesses and homes, as well as enhancing road safety in the area. During construction, the southbound on-ramps from Mapleview Street and Winter Gardens Boulevard to SR-67 will be closed. The southbound on-ramp at Riverford Road will remain open.

During this weekend's closure, traffic will be detoured off of SR-67 at Mapleview Street and onto Channel Road heading west. Traffic will then be directed along Lakeside Avenue and continue onto Riverside Drive, left onto Riverford Road to the southbound Riverford Road on-ramp to SR-67.
