SAN DIEGO (CNS) - A crash at a University City intersection left a pedestrian with life-threatening injuries, San Diego police said Wednesday.

The driver of a Ford Mustang pulled into the intersection of Arriba Street and Regents Road on a green light, but for unknown reasons veered into the opposite lanes of traffic and into the crosswalk where the pedestrian was walking, San Diego police Officer Ben Newton said.

The pedestrian, a man in his 20s, was struck and severely injured shortly before 10 p.m. Tuesday, Newton said.

Newton said traffic division officers have launched an investigation into the crash.
