CAMP PENDLETON (CNS) - Military and civilian firefighters, sheriff's deputies and helicopter crews practiced responding to wildfires Thursday at Camp Pendleton.
A wildland firefighting exercise got underway at Camp Pendleton at 1 pm and lasted until about 2:30 pm.

"This exercise will provide ready, trained and certified military and civilian resources to combat wildland fires in the region and culminates with a cooperative effort to extinguish a simulated wildland fire,'' said a Camp Pendleton statement.
Base officials said fire crews worked together to establish a simulated fire line and conduct water bucket operations.
