Local stores participate in 'Free Comic Book Day'

SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) - It is a special day for comic book fans as thousands of shops across the country handed out more than six million free books.
A handful of local stores took part in "Free Comic Book Day," including Yesteryear Comics in Kearny Mesa.
The shop owner says the event is a great way to get people introduced to the world of comics, including kids.

"Especially for kids it's a good medium to get them reading," Michael Cholak said. "It helps the imagination so it's easier for them to picture what they are reading," he said.
Some of the 50 free comics handed out Saturday include Marvel's Captain America, DC's Suicide Squad and Pokémon.
