STOCKTON, Calif. (AP) - Authorities say one of two California inmates who escaped from a Palo Alto courthouse two weeks ago has been captured in Stockton after a chase with officers. Television station KTVU reports California Highway Patrol officers arrested Tramel McClough Tuesday night but that John Bivins escaped. McClough and Bivins eluded deputies escorting them at court on Nov. 6. They bolted through an emergency exit and ran outside to a waiting car.

NEW YORK (AP) - A British law firm says the ride-hailing firm Uber could now face legal claims after a data breach that saw hackers steal the personal information of some 57 million people around the world. Sean Humber, a data protection specialist from the law firm Leigh Day, says the company urgently needs to answer questions about its failure to secure personal information, to report the breach to authorities and to notify those affected.

LOS ANGELES (AP) - Much of coastal California is enjoying a summerlike Thanksgiving week two-thirds of the way through fall. The National Weather Service says temperatures records have been broken or tied this week under the influence of high pressure, and more new marks are likely to be set. Many parts of Southern California hit the 80s well before noon Wednesday and a few locations had already hit 90 degrees. Records broken or tied Tuesday ranged from 91 at Bob Hope Airport in Burbank to 81 at Santa Cruz.

PALM BEACH, Fla. (AP) - President Donald Trump has started off his first day of Thanksgiving vacation by resuming his taunts of the father of a UCLA basketball player detained for shoplifting in China. In a series of tweets fired off before dawn Wednesday, Trump called LaVar Ball an "ungrateful fool." Trump is complaining the father of LiAngelo Ball hasn't given him credit for the release of his son and two other UCLA basketball players from detention in China.
