LOS ANGELES (AP) - California U.S. Sen. Kamala Harris has endorsed Gavin Newsom in the race for California governor. Harris gave her fellow Democrat and lieutenant governor the nod Friday in Los Angeles, saying Newsom will "lead with courage."

LOS ANGELES (AP) - Harry Connick Jr.'s daytime show is coming to an end later this year. NBCUniversal Domestic Television said Friday that Connick's talk-variety show, titled "Harry," will wrap after two seasons. In a statement, Connick said he was proud of the show that was intended to entertain and inspire viewers and was grateful for the opportunity.

SAN DIEGO (AP) - The U.S. Border Patrol says rocks thrown by a man on top of a fence on the U.S.-Mexico border damaged an agent's vehicle but no one was injured. Officials said Friday that the incident occurred Wednesday evening in the Calexico area, east of San Diego. A man on top of a fence between the two countries threw the rocks as another man scrambled over the barrier to return to Mexico as agents pursued him.

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) - The U.S. Department of Justice is appealing a California judge's decision to temporarily block new Trump administration rules allowing more employers to opt out of providing women no-cost birth control. California Attorney General Xavier Becerra (hahv-YEHR' beh-SEH'-rah) sued the Trump administration in October challenging the new rules.
