People gathered Saturday at wedding watch parties _ some before dawn _ across the country. In New York, people in hats, gloves, and tiaras piled into the Plaza Hotel for a celebration complete with cake pops with champagne and flower liqueur. At a royal wedding watch party in New Jersey, one viewer said Markle is "an example for our young, African-American women."
JOSHUA TREE, Calif. (AP) - A couple who faced child abuse charges after their three children were found living in a squalid shack in the Southern California desert have been reunited with the youngsters _ and the family has a new home. A judge in San Bernardino County ruled Thursday that Daniel Panico and Mona Kirk can bring home the children but they'll still remain under county supervision.
SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) - President Donald Trump has endorsed San Diego businessman John Cox in the race for California governor. Trump announced his endorsement on Twitter on Friday, saying he looks forward to working with Cox to "Make California Great Again!" The presidential endorsement is a major boost to Cox, who is looking to consolidate Republican support ahead of the June 5 primary to secure one of two slots in the November general election.
LOS ANGELES (AP) - Years before a targeted explosion killed his former girlfriend, the Southern California man charged as part of the blast investigation lost his wife in what coroner's officials called a "mysterious case." Stephen Beal was charged with an unregistered destructive device. Ildiko Krajnyak was killed Tuesday when a bomb went off as she opened a package inside the day spa she owned with Beal. Beal's wife, Christine, died in 2008. Coroner's officials have ruled her manner of death as "undetermined."
