Oceanside gets into the All-American spirit with Independence Parade

Posted: Updated:

OCEANSIDE (CBS) - Oceanside is starting the holiday weekend early with an Independence Day parade. If you are wanting to get into the Fourth of July spirit, consider taking part in this annual event.

The Oceanside Independence Day parade has been happening for over 20 years, yet the All-American spirit continues to grow. There are over a 120 entries for the parade this year - from floats to marching bands.

There will be many restaurants celebrating the parade, especially one in particular. That Boy Good, an southern American barbecue joint, will be serving its special Bloody Mary. This drink features its homemade Bloody Mary Mix, BBQ sauce, and is even topped off with a hot pickled green bean and a rib.

The parade takes place along Coast Highway from Wisconsin Avenue to Pier View Way. Spots for watching the parade will be limited, so come early to ensure a seat.

The parade will be taking place Saturday, July 2nd and takes off at 10 AM.

If you are looking to continue the holiday celebration in Oceanside, the city will be hosting its 128th annual fireworks show located at the El Corazon site. The show is on Sunday, July 3rd at 9 PM.
