Identical twins give birth at the same time

LA JOLLA (CBS 8) - Identical twins, one in La Jolla and the other in Denver have shared a lot over the years. Now, they share something else and it's astounding.

Their babies were born on the same day, at almost the same time.

The 35-year-old twin mothers live in separate states but nobody could have predicted what is being dubbed a "twincidence."

Sarah Maruiz and Leah Rodgers have always had the "twin intuition," but they never planned on getting pregnant at the same time.

At last year's Thanksgiving they both announced they were pregnant. Sarah tried to keep it a secret to let her sister have her moment, but that changed when she learned their due dates were only four days apart.

Seven months later, on June 29th, Leah's water broke at 5:30 a.m. MST. In La Jolla, Sarah was having contractions at 4:30 a.m. PST.

On June 30th, Leah gave birth in Denver at 1:18 a.m., MST, to baby boy Reid Joseph. He weighed eight pounds and five ounces.

Exactly one hour later, Pacific Standard Time, in La Jolla Sarah gave birth to baby girl Samantha Lynn. She weighed seven pounds and five ounces - one pound lighter than her cousin.

The twins have created a Facebook page to share the "twincidence."
