SAN DIEGO (CNS) - San Diego Padres pitcher Drew Pomeranz was named to the National League All-Star Team's active roster Saturday as an injury replacement, Major League Baseball announced.

Manager Terry Collins of the New York Mets added the Padres left-hander to replace Mets pitcher Noah Syndergaard. The 27-year-old will be making his first All-Star appearance and will join teammate Wil Myers as the only two Padres on the team.

The Padres are in Los Angeles for a weekend series against the Dodgers to wrap up the first half of the 2016 season before the three-day All-Star break that begins Monday.

Pomeranz is 8-7 this season with a 2.47 earned-run average, but has a .182 opponents' batting average, second-lowest in the majors behind Blue Jays All-Star Marco Estrada. He replaces Syndergaard, who was expected to start for the National League until leaving Friday's game with arm fatigue.

The game at San Diego's Petco Park is scheduled for Tuesday, with first pitch at 5 p.m.
