SAN DIEGO (CNS) - A suspicious fire damaged an apartment building in City Heights early Tuesday and left the residents of two units displaced.

The apartment building on Van Dyke Avenue near Wightman Street was evacuated after the fire broke out in a second story unit shortly before 3:30 a.m., according to San Diego police and fire officials. Four people were evaluated for possible smoke inhalation.

The fire was knocked down in about 15 minutes, according to the San Diego Fire-Rescue Department.

A woman was detained in connection with the fire, but it was not immediately clear if she would be placed under arrest, San Diego police Officer Travis Easter said.

The American Red Cross was summoned to assist the residents who were displaced by the fire, fire officials said.
