SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) – Opening night of San Diego Comic Con and there are a lot of superheroes to be found but one group says fans should be their own superhero to end bullying.

“We all love superheroes why not be one?” said Chase Masterson, Founder of Pop Culture Hero Coalition.

Although superheroes are not real, identifying with their powers is, bravery, strength and compassion are genuine.

“We want to help them find out what is it that you love about that character what quality and how can you bring that in your life,” said Pop Culture Hero Coalition, Co-Founder Carrie Goldman.

The third anti-bullying rally held by the Pop Culture Hero Coalition may have drawn a small crowd but influential speakers such as the founder of the equality activists, the NOH8 Campaign.

“It's about sharing your message and being proud of who you are,” said NOH8 Co-Founder Adam Bouska.
Marvel’s Agent Carter, Co-Executive Producer, Jose Molina was a featured panelist, “(expletive) the box that they put me in.”

One fan told CBS News 8 Molina had the quote of the convention.

"Be your own person speak up for who you are and your rights and be your own superhero,” said, Shaunak Rana.

The founders Pop Culture Hero Coalition say being a fan of Comic Con can feel like an outsider but at the convention feel like it’s inner empathy.

“Growing up in the nerd culture before it was popular, plus being a giant and plus having red hair, I was picked on a lot, says Travis Adams. “When I was in the military I got picked on a lot for having this side of my life. Having it acknowledged now is a huge change, change needs to happen and I want to be a part of it."

Changing fantasy into the real world with justice and heroism.

“If you see something doing wrong you have the power to change it, you should do something about it,” said Rana.

San Diego Comic Con continues until Sunday evening at the San Diego Convention Center.
