San Diego Pokemon Go player believes he's caught them all

SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) - The Pokemon Go craze continues to sweep the nation as millions of players try to catch them all.

One San Diego man claims he has caught them all, at least the ones here in the states and becoming only the second person to do so. There are a total of 151 Pokemon characters, but only 142 in the United States.

Carlos Adams claims he has captured all 142 Pokemon available in the United States.

The 23-year-old achieved his goal around 5 a.m., Tuesday morning. To make it happen he spent the past two weeks, sometimes 12-hours a day, searching all over the county and beyond.

Carlos estimates 80-miles of that travel was just walking. "I told everyone I was going to catch them all and be the best. I did it," said Adams.

According to Carlos, he was inspired to catch them all because when he was seven years old, he did the same when Pokemon originally came out.

"I did it because I did it in the past and I thought I could do it again," he said.

Carlos said he is not going to stop. There are three Pokemon available in other countries and another six the company has yet to release.

"If someone wants to sponsor me, I'll go to London, Japan and Australia and get them all," he said.

If a sponsor does not work out, Carlos has set up a GoFundMe page to help keep the game going.

CBS News 8 reached out to both the public relations firm representing Pokemon Go as well as the company who released the app regarding Carlos' feat, but they have not replied.
