CHULA VISTA (CNS) - A Chula Vista woman who allegedly robbed a bank using a demand note was arrested almost three hours later by officers who recognized her from surveillance video, according to police.
Sarah Martinez, 33, walked into the California Coast Credit Union in the 200 block of East H Street in Chula Vista shortly before 2 p.m. Saturday, waited in line, gave the teller a demand note then escaped on foot with an undetermined amount of cash from the teller's drawer, police said.
Officers who responded to the call of a robbery in progress interviewed witnesses and viewed surveillance video from the bank and surrounding businesses and obtained a good description of the suspect to conduct a search of the area.
Then, at about 4:30 p.m., a Chula Vista patrol officer saw Martinez as matching the description of the bank robbery suspect in the 600 block of Broadway. She was detained, admitted to being at the bank, and evidence linking her to the bank robbery was found, police said.
Martinez was arrested on suspicion of robbery, conspiracy and drug possession, then booked into the Las Colinas Women's Detention Facility in] Santee early this morning.
