SAN DIEGO (CNS) - Two pedestrians were injured in a hit-and-run crash in Pacific Beach early Friday.

The 23- and 25-year-old victims were attempting to cross Garnet Avenue while eastbound traffic was stopped near Bayard Street when they were struck shortly after 1 a.m. by a sedan that was heading east in a westbound lane to get around the backup, San Diego police Officer Robert Heims said.

The driver did not stop after striking the two men but continued east on Garnet Avenue, according to the officer.

Both victims were taken to a hospital. Heims said one suffered a traumatic brain injury and the other sustained a laceration across his forehead.

A detailed description of the suspect or of the vehicle involved was not immediately available.
