Man severely injured in downtown stabbing

Posted: Updated:

SAN DIEGO (CNS) - An argument between two men downtown Saturday ended with one man getting stabbed and his attacker running from the scene, according to the San Diego police.

The fight near the intersection of 8th Avenue and E Street was reported at 5:12 p.m., according to SDPD Officer Robert Heims.

Witnesses told police the two men were arguing when suddenly the suspect pulled his hand away from the other man's stomach and began running from the scene, Heims said.

The 65-year-old victim suffered two stab wounds to the abdomen, Heims said. The victim grabbed his stomach and fell down, hitting his head on the ground.

The victim was transported to a hospital for treatment of stab wounds and a head injury, Heims continued. The wounds are not life-threatening, he added.

The suspect, who remains at large, was described as a black male in his 20s, about 5 feet tall, thin and clean cut, Heims said. He was last seen wearing a black baseball cap, blue shirt and red and black pin-striped shorts.

Anyone with information on this stabbing or the whereabouts of the suspect was asked to call the SDPD at (619) 531-2000. All tips can be made anonymously.
