ENCINITAS (CBS 8) - When visiting this area, you are constantly surrounded by the calmness of the ocean waves and the sea breeze. However, to really embrace the Encinitas lifestyle, you should take some time to practice yoga and find your inner peace.
A serene place that many locals come to to mediate is the Self-Realization Fellowship (SRF) Encinitas Temple. SRF is an international religious organization that began in 1920. The Fellowship educates on the universal teachings of Kriya Yoga, which is a sacred spiritual science originating thousands of years ago from India.
The Encinitas Temple was created in 1936 after SRF founder Paramahansa Yogananda returned from India. Since then, the temple has become a place of pilgrimage for many people every year to visit where this influential teacher lived, worked, and conversed with God.
At the Temple, you can participate in a full program of inspirational lecture services, meditations, reading scriptures, kirtans (devotional chanting), Sunday School, teen classes, and many more activities that will allow you to deepen your spiritual practices and embrace the teachings of Yoganda.
Come to an inspirational service either on Sunday at 9:30 and 11:00 AM or Thursday at 7:30 PM.
The Self-Realization Fellowship is located at 939 Second Street in Downtown Encinitas.
