ENCINITAS (CBS 8) - Located just 25 miles north of San Diego, you will find a little beach town known as Encinitas. Encinitas was established over a 100 years ago and has grown to over 60,000 residents.

Encinitas is divided up into five areas: Old Encinitas, New Encinitas, Olivenhain, Leucadia and Cardiff.

Each area is unique and has something to offer. If you are looking for a classic old beach town scene, check out Old Encinitas, which is the coastal community located in downtown Encinitas. Here, you can see the historic sights and get a sense of how the locals do life in this surf loving town.

Likewise, Leucadia has a similar vibe. You could say that Leucadia is more resident friendly and has a few local restaurants worth checking out.

New Encinitas features the golf course, along with several shopping centers. So, if you are looking to take a break from the salty sea, grab your club and hit the green!

Olivenhain is quite unique, as it is mainly a rural community with single family homes. Here, you can hop on a horse and ride on the many trails that are tucked away in the hills. There is even the old Olivenhain Meeting Hall, where residents congregate to participate in general meetings of the town council.

And lastly, Cardiff is the most southern region of Encinitas. What makes this area stand out is that all of the streets have a British origin and are named after several cities and composers from the UK.
