All-women off-road trek across the desert

If a girls' night out leaves you wanting more, how about a full week away from the children, the cooking and cell-phones?

SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) - If a girls' night out leaves you wanting more, how about a full week away from the children, the cooking and cell-phones?

Emile Miller is a professional driver. She has taught thousands of people how to challenge themselves and the road neath them.

She has competed in off road races from Mexico to Africa and beaten the boys plenty of times.

The next event she has organized is for girls only.

From house moms to professional racers, if you have a stock 4-by-4 or crossover vehicle - you are invited. There is only one catch.

No cell-phones are allowed.

The Rebelle Rally is not about speed but rather smarts. Drivers learn how to navigate with a compass and maps.

Miller's one week rally in October starts in Lake Tahoe, then stretches 1,200 miles across open terrain before finding the finishing line at the Del Mar race track.

With base camps, food and hot showers included, 90 women have already signed up to leave it all behind.

The price for the Rebelle Rally is $5,500 and it includes a gourmet chef, a hotel stay at the start and finish of the rally as well as a black tie gala.

Some of the footage in this video story was shot using a GoPro camera.
