Inmate attacks 4 guards at San Diego prison

SAN DIEGO (AP) - Authorities say an inmate assaulted four guards at a state prison in San Diego, leaving one with a concussion.

The Richard J. Donovan Correctional Facility said Thursday that all four guards were treated at a hospital - three of them for minor injuries.

Charles Morgan, who is serving a six-year sentence for assault with a deadly weapon, allegedly struck a guard in the face on Wednesday and knocked another one to the ground, where she hit the back of her head. He hit two more officers with fists and elbows.

Guards used pepper spray to restrain the 33-year-old inmate, who was taken to a nearby hospital.

The minimum-to-high security prison houses nearly 3,200 men.
