MISSION VALLEY (CNS) - Police and firefighters will be at Hazard Center Sunday, working with members of the San Diego Building Owners and Managers Association on how to handle a person firing gunshots in a large complex.
The exercise at the Mission Valley office tower was designed to give first responders a training opportunity and to give office building owners and managers a rare opportunity to train under direct supervision of law enforcement, according to Leanne Daly, a spokeswoman for the association.
There will be 30 volunteers acting as victims and survivors of a mass shooting during the hour-long, real time exercise at the 15-story building, Daly said. The building will be closed to the public, but the Hazard Center shopping center nearby will not be affected.
The exercise is to begin at 9 a.m. Sunday.
