SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) - It's the first day of school for San Diego Unified students and they're on track for the highest graduation rate in the state.
Students return to the classroom about a week earlier than usual and they said this year they will continue their anti-bullying campaign and post signs around all campuses with information on how students can report bullying.
Students will also see improvements on campuses across the district. Some of those improvements include 900 new musical instruments thanks to funding increases for the visual and performing arts programs.
There are changes for technology, as well. This year the district is expanding its computer take home program to more than 40 schools. Students will receive more than 13,000 computers to use in the classroom and at home throughout the year.
There are also new bus drop off procedures to improve traffic flow at many schools.
