Woman rescued from cliffs at Black's Beach

A woman is rescued from the cliffs at Torrey Pines, near Black's Beach.

SAN DIEGO (CNS) - Lifeguards and a city helicopter crew came to the rescue Thursday when a hiker in her 20s fell off a path on a sea bluff above Black's Beach and suffered a back injury.
   
The accident near Torrey Pines Gliderport was reported shortly before 10 a.m., according to the San Diego Fire-Rescue Department.
   
Lifeguards hiked down to the where the unidentified woman, who had fallen about 15 feet, was stranded, evaluated her condition and strapped her into a litter, SDFRD spokesman Lee Swanson said.
   
The airborne personnel then hoisted her into the hovering chopper and flew her to Scripps Memorial Hospital La Jolla.
   
The severity of the victim's injury was unclear, Swanson said.
