Athlete sets out to run across America for veterans

SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) - On the 15th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks, one man is honoring veterans with a race that started right here in San Diego. 

Marathoner George Chmiel just set out on a run across America. The extreme athlete and his friends gathered on board the USS Midway Museum Sunday to kick off his cross-country journey. 

He plans to go from San Diego to Ground Zero in New York City in just 60 days. The goal is to raise $2 million for the Guardian for Heroes Foundation
