KAABOO Music Festival in Del Mar

KAABOO returns to Del Mar for another year of big names from every genre.

SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) - KAABOO returned to Del Mar for another year of big names from every genre.

Jimmy Buffett & The Coral Reefer Band, Aerosmith, Fall Out Boy and Jack Johnson were the headlining acts this weekend. More than 100 musical and comedy acts include several that could themselves be headliners, such as Lenny Kravitz, Daryl Hall and John Oates, OneRepublic and Third Eye Blind.

The comedy lineup included the cast of Silicon Valley with T.J. Miller, Dana Carvey, Jeff Ross, Darrell Hammond and Janeane Garofalo.

The second annual music festival promised to be bigger than ever, but with a little less noise.

The festival rattled more than just nerves last year when the concert violated the city's noise ordinance.

"The city notified the fairgrounds they were in violation of the noise ordinance," said Del Mar City Council member, Al Corti.

Del Mar residents complained and KAABOO organizers drummed up a new game plan to turn down the volume this year.

"We have six noise monitors placed around the community surrounding the fairgrounds. It gives us data on how we are doing with noise," said Julie Coleman with KAABOO.

Council member and Del Mar resident Corti, who lives directly across the fairgrounds remains optimistic.

"I personally worked with them. They understood the ordinance and understood they made some violations last year and have the ability to turn down the volume if the noise got too loud," said Corti.

The festival is scheduled for Sept. 16-18 at the Del Mar Fairgrounds. Festival passes can be purchased online via the KAABOOD website.
