SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) - A family waits and worries after a Camp Pendleton Marine disappeared days before he was supposed to report for duty.
Lance Corporal John Hair was last seen at the Oceanside Transit Station one week ago after returning from visiting his mother in Fresno while on leave.
Hair was last spotted on surveillance camera exiting the transit center last Friday afternoon. He headed westbound on foot toward the beach.
He was wearing a maroon baseball t-shirt with grey sleeves, blue jeans and black and white Converse tennis shoes. Hair was also carrying a light-blue backpack and a Rasputin shopping bag.
Hair's sister, Melissa, said her younger-brother's disappearance is completely out of character.
The Lance Corporal was just days away from deploying overseas, and his family said he was looking forward to it. The suggestion he may have gone AWOL, to their mind, is not a possibility.
Anyone with information is asked to call authorities.
