SAN DIEGO (CBS8) - A man whose car was stolen in Mission Beach Sunday morning didn't let it go without a fight.

"I got a radio call because I was working the coaster and they said my car was getting stolen. I didn't believe it," said Daniel Zochowski.

Zochowski was operating the Giant Dipper when he ran to the parking lot to find two men driving away with his car.

"I got in front of it, I jumped the median, was on the opposite side. I got my radio, smashed the window. I was attempting to jump into it and it took off and was going into oncoming traffic," said Zochowski.

Zochowski called 911 and gave chase as his 1992 Honda Civic went south on Mission Blvd.

"I was chasing it halfway down, called the cops because it's a dead end. So I just waited right there and all the cops came over here. We found it parked under here," said Zochowski.

Police found the car in an alley about a mile from the amusement park. The men who stole the car ran away, however, they left some evidence behind.

"They actually used a shaved key to get into the car," said Zochowski.

Zochowski says even though he broke his own window to try and stop the theft, he's pretty happy to get his car back in one piece without any additional damage.

"I got my car stolen once already so I wanted to catch them so they don't steal other cars. I don't really care, I'm that type of person that's going to take action, you know? Fight or flight? I'm going to fight."

Anyone with information about this case is asked to contact the San Diego Police Department or Crime Stoppers at (888) - 580 - 8477.
