SAN DIEGO (CNS) - San Diego police continued their search Wednesday for a 27-year-old man wanted in connection with a shooting that wounded a man at or near Hourglass Field Community Park in Mira Mesa.

Michael Paganvega is considered armed and dangerous. Police distributed his image to area news agencies Tuesday night, describing him as Hispanic, 5 feet 8 and about 135 pounds, with dark hair.

Paganvega was suspected in a shooting in the vicinity of Hourglass Field Community Park early Tuesday that left one person with wounds not believed to be life-threatening, according to police.

He bolted when an officer approached him in the 8800 block of Brentford Avenue shortly after 2 p.m. and ran into a nearby house, according to San Diego police Officer Josh Hodge. The home was about a mile away from the site of the shooting.

Paganvega did not respond to orders to surrender, and a SWAT team descended on the home about 90 minutes later. Officers entered the home about 6:30 p.m., but Paganvega had somehow escaped, according to police.

Police said anyone who spots Paganvega should not approach or contact him. Anyone with information regarding his whereabouts was urged to immediately call 911 or San Diego police at (619) 531-2000.
