Rattlesnake shows up on Carmel Valley doorstep

Posted: Updated:

DEL MAR (CBS 8) - A big surprise for a Carmel Valley resident who found a rattlesnake on his doorstep.

The resident opened the front door to check for a package only to find a red diamond rattlesnake.

An Animal Control officer was called in to remove the reptile.

County Animal Services officials said that although sightings peak during the hot summer months, rattlesnakes can show up at any time.

Residents of some north county cities and unincorporated areas of San Diego can call Animal Services at (619) 236-2341 for help remove rattlesnakes from their home.

Animal Control can also help to remove the creatures.
